Jory Lamb Ranked Among Top 40 Under 40

Avenue Calgary Magazine Unveils 2011 Young Leaders on the Rise

CALGARY, Alberta, Canada (October 28, 2011) – Jory Lamb, President & CEO of VistaVu Solutions, was celebrated as one of Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue magazine today.

Each year, Avenue Calgary‘s Top 40 Under 40 celebrates Calgarians under the age of 40 who excel in their careers and raise the profile of the city. The Class of 2011 will be profiled in the November issue of Avenue magazine. The young professionals who made the list include entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, educators, artists, researchers, politicians, social workers and some very committed volunteers. 

In the Editor’s note, Avenue Editor Käthe Lemon said “Each year we highlight the city’s next generation of movers and shakers in our Top 40 Under 40 issue. It’s one of the most humbling and exciting editorial packages we put together: humbling to see the amazing achievements each of them has made before the age of 40, and exciting to see the diversity of things going on in the city.”

This year, Avenue received more than 350 nominations for the coveted 40 spots — a 75 per cent increase in nominations over last year. They even added some additional steps to their vetting process to help make sure the very best among the nominees were selected.

In his career, Jory has started a total of six businesses – one of which is VistaVu Solutions with more than 20 employees and offices in Calgary and Houston. VistaVu is one of the top SAP channel partners in North America and has made their mark in the technology sector by bringing a comprehensive software system called FieldVu to market used by oil and gas service companies. FieldVu integrates all the software systems its clients use to run their business into one program. In one instance, Lamb’s system helped a company save $2 million by tracking all the equipment it bought for field staff in a year. 

“My job is like a living MBA,” says Lamb. “I get to understand all these cool businesses and make them more efficient.”

In 2010, Lamb also established a local version of an international program called Accelerator, run by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO). The program helps budding businesses break a million dollars in sales by setting them up with a mentor and monthly peer group meetings, both providing much-needed business advice. In the past year, Lamb has grown the program to include 21 small business members —three of which have already gone on to achieve the goal of more than $1 million in sales.
