VistaVu Solutions Makes Donations to Local Charities in Houston & Calgary

Employees revamp the way they donate and compete for 3 charities

CALGARY, Alberta, Canada (August 8, 2011) - Each year VistaVu Solutions, a Calgary-based leading provider of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solutions for energy service companies, holds VistaVu University. As part of the University the employees participate in team building exercises, this year - one of them being mini-Olympics at Shanks Athletic Club in Calgary.

The mini-Olympics puts the employees to the test in pool, pro putting, and auto racing among others, but the driving force behind the competition is each team picks a charity that they are competing for.

“Think Celebrity Apprentice,” said Nicole Baron, Marketing Manager for VistaVu Solutions. “Together, each team selects a charity that is meaningful to them they will be competing for. At the end of the mini-Olympics points from the activities are added up, and donations made to each of the three charities selected this year with the largest donation going to the winning team’s charity.”

This year the three charities chosen were:

  • Janus Academy - a Calgary-based accredited, independent, non-profit school, designed to meet the unique educational needs of school-aged children with autism. The mission of the Janus Academy is to maximize the potential of each child with autism by enabling academic success and facilitating lifelong community integration.
  • Communities in Schools - based in Arlington, VA is a nationwide network of passionate professionals working in public schools to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
  • Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation - based in Calgary, AB, Canada. Family centered care is a philosophy celebrated by the Alberta Children’s Hospital that recognizes the important role families play in the physical, psychological and spiritual well-being of their children. This model of care embraces family members as key partners in a child’s healing team. The hospital serves over 75,000 families each year.

This year’s winning team represented Communities in Schools, which received the largest donation. The Janus Academy and Alberta Children’s Hospital also both received donations.

“This is one of the best team building exercises we can do,” said Jory Lamb, President and CEO of VistaVu Solutions. “It brings our employees together, while also helping us give back to three organizations that truly deserve it. We have been doing this for a few years now and plan to continue for years to come.”
