What’s New in SAP Business ByDesign 22.08

What are some of the great new features added as part of the SAP Business ByDesign 22.08 release? We’re glad you asked! SAP has added some high-value functionality into this version. Let’s take a look at a few key items from the SAP Business ByDesign 22.08 update.

Horizon Theme for SAP Business ByDesign

SAP Business ByDesign now includes the Horizon theme, a user interface upgrade introduced in SAP Business One and SAP S/4 HANA. The addition of the Horizon theme provides a consistent look-and-feel across SAP’s key enterprise products. The image below shows some of the improvements made in the Horizon theme—the highlighted features are numbered to correspond with the descriptions below the image.

1. The enterprise search box has been moved to the center of the screen, making it more noticeable and accessible. You can select a search category from the dropdown list on the left to automatically narrow down your search results.
2. Page tabs have been redesigned to appear in the header area, matching the experience offered by modern web browsers while offering a cleaner screen view.
3. An additional tab menu item allows users to more easily switch between open tabs.
4. There are additional visual improvements including brighter colors and borders, more rounded corners, and enhanced font weights and sizes that emphasize higher priority information.

Dispatching Board enhancement

The SAP Business ByDesign 22.02 release added a dispatching board in the service order work center, letting service planners assign a service order to employees based on their availability. In the 22.05 release, SAP enhanced this functionality by introducing details of the work needing to be assigned, and what employee availability is like on the dispatching board screen.

In the 22.08 release, SAP Business ByDesign will also show ‘negative hours’ on the dispatching board if a service order item is assigned to an employee on a non-working day such as the weekend or a public holiday. (Please note that such an assignment is done via the service order details UI, not the dispatching board.) See the image below for an example.

Support for Ten levels of Account Hierarchy Price List and Discount List

For customers utilizing account hierarchy and price list functionality, SAP Business ByDesign 22.08 has enhanced the price engine to support up to ten levels of account hierarchy—double the amount from the previous version.

Let’s take a look at an example of this improvement. First, in Account Hierarchy setup, assign an account to a level 10 account hierarchy:

In the Account Hierarchy Price list setup, set up an item pricing:

When a CRM document is created in the system, the price engine determines account in the Account Hierarchy master data up to ten levels of hierarchy search, and returns the pricing information.
